Network Activities

Network activities have been restricted this year due to Covid, though we have continued to liaise with colleagues from Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy-related networks in both BERA and SERA to plan future activities. We are looking to develop a joint session for ECER 2023 that focuses on building interconnected learning communities, with subsequent online events running in between the different conferences.

As a network, we have links (via our members) to a number of journals within the field of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy, including: Sport, Education and Society, Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy. European Physical Education Review, British Educational Research Journal, and the Frontiers Journal 'Physical Education and Pedagogy’. Presentations from the ECER conference are regularly translated into publications in these journals. We have also seen some presentations developed into Blogs for both EERA and BERA.

As noted above, we are looking to create more sustained links with sport pedagogy networks in other educational research organisations. Initial discussions have been with BERA and SERA, but we will look to extend conversations to include NERA and other organisations as relevant. We intend to develop collective sessions for upcoming conferences, beginning with ECER 2023. We will then look to run online sessions during the course of the year, with a focus on knowledge exchange to both educational researchers and practitioners. As this develops, it may be that we will look to apply for EERA funding to run further in-person events.
