2021 - Project

A Network Project already planned and approved in 2018 with the title " Specialist symposium on creative and innovative methods in educational research" had to be postponed to Spring 2021 due to the Brexite and Covid 19 crisis.

2020 - Online Symposium during #ReconnectingEERA week

To mark that Glasgow would have been hosting the ECER conference in 2020, the Scottish Physical Education Network (ScotPERN) and EERA Network 18, held a joint online symposium with the title: 'Scottish Physical Education within the context of health and wellbeing: Researching the challenges and opportunities'.

2018 - Change in Link Convenor

Rachel Sandford (Loughborough University, United Kingdom) started her term as new elected Link Convenor after ECER 2018.

2017 - Project

NW 18 organised a two-day “Specialist Symposium on Values, Voice and Ethics in Educational Research” to encourage both experienced academics and early career researchers (ECR) to come together and discuss issues relating to values, voice and ethics within educational research.

2013 - Project

NW 18 organised an EERA Symposium at International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education (AIESEP). EERA funded the conference fees for 3 researchers.

2013 - Change in Link Convenor

After ECER 2012, Fiona Chambers (Ireland) took over from Kathleen Armour as new Link Convenor of network 18.

2011 - Interview with Link Convenor

At ECER 2011 "Urban Education" in Berlin, Graham Attwell and his colleagues from Pontysysgu interviewed the link convenor Kathleen Armour.

2011 - Network Founded

The Sport Pedagogy Network was established in 2011. It was started by Prof. Dr. Kathleen Armour from the University of Birmingham in England with the following co-convenors: Prof. Dr. Hans Peter Brandl-Bredenbeck, Universität Paderborn, Germany, and Dr. Fiona Chambers, University College Cork, Ireland.

Sport Pedagogy is a field that brings together researchers who are interested in the academic spaces where sport and education come together. It includes physical education, sport coaching and relevant aspects of sport policy, and focuses on the needs of diverse learners in settings such as schools, family and community.
