ECER Conference Bursaries

EERA and the Emerging Researchers’ Group (ERG) will grant a number of bursaries for ERC and ECER 2023 for postgraduate students and emerging researchers in order to allow them to participate in this year’s Emerging Researchers’ Conference (ERC) and European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) in Glasgow, UK.

The Three Types of Bursary Funds

  1. Bursaries for students and recent graduates who are nationals of European low GDP countries (including Eastern Europe, Portugal, Greece and Turkey)
This Bursary includes: free entry to the ERC and ECER in Glasgow and a 550 € travel bursary.
  2. Bursaries for students and recent graduates who are nationals of low GDP countries outside Europe (including those from low GDP countries studying in high GDP countries)
This Bursary includes: free entry to the ERC and ECER in Glasgow and a 550 € travel bursary.
You can find a list of low GDP countries here.
  3. Partial bursaries for students and recent graduates from the hosting country of ECER.
This Bursary includes: free entry to the ERC and ECER 2023 Conferences only. All residents of the hosting country can apply for this bursary. Nationals of low GDP countries residing in the host country must apply under the "hosting country" category.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only authors of proposals that were submitted to and are accepted for presentation at the Emerging Researchers' Conference will be awarded the bursary.
  • Only one bursary (including the one free ERC/ECER entry) will be awarded per proposal. Therefore, if co-authors apply and both are awarded a bursary, they would have to decide amongst themselves how they would share the single award.
  • Former bursary winners will not be considered.
  • Bursary applicants need to be prepared to attend both ERC and ECER.
  • If awarded an EERA Bursary, you will submit relevant documentation as requested by the EERA Office before 12:00 on the last day of ECER.
  • If a winner is not able to attend this year's ERC and ECER, the free entry can be deferred to ERC and ECER of the following year.
  • Payment of the travel bursary will only be done after the conference (usually 4 - 6 weeks following ERC/ECER) after receipt of the documentation confirming attendance.
